Pushing, loading, and tipping give a toddler different ways to coordinate their hands and body. Pretend deliveries create opportunities to explore cause and effect and use words such as in, out, full, and empty.
Make a delivery route between two floor mats. Load large toddler-safe blocks, push the truck over, and tip them out. Take turns being the driver and the receiver.
Let the play grow with them
Start with rolling the empty truck back and forth. Later, add a building site made from blocks or a make-believe delivery to a stuffed animal.
A no-shopping version
Push large toys in a shallow cardboard box along the floor; remove staples and loose packaging first.
