Gather a few things

A comfortable place to sit together.

Let’s play

  1. Clap once gently and pause.
  2. Invite a clap, tap, wave, or any response.
  3. Copy your toddler’s movement back to them.
  4. Try two soft taps and finish with a little wave.

A little learning to notice

Notice taking turns and repeated sounds. Let your toddler lead the pattern.

Keep a little memory

Give your favorite little rhythm a family nickname and repeat it another day.

Make it work for your child

Tap your knees instead of clapping if sound is uncomfortable. Keep patterns short.
